We're raising money for the
Developing An App
fundraiser led by
The Garlic Bread Mafia Team
We are the Garlic Bread Mafia, a group of eighth graders from Howard University Middle School of Math and Science. We firmly believe that no one's internet experience should be based on the negative comments of others and as a result wanted to combat cyber bullying. We decided to do so by creating an app.
What I'm Raising Money For
Our app ,Adolescents' Protected Environment (A.P.E), has a unique way of tackling cyber bullying. A.P.E. is a social media feed aggregator that would filter negative messages from users’ social networks and monitor the output of the user for signs suggesting suicides or harming oneself. It would then connect those users with immediate support. The money you raise will help pay for hiring professional developers.
Why You Should Give
As you all know cyber bullying is a huge epidemic in our nation. We have heard about the many tragedies when teenagers were pushed too far and committed suicide in relation to cyber bullying. We wanted to do something about it, become apart of the solution. With technology advancing so quickly and the anonymity of the internet, it is becoming easier to bully online. According to the National Crime Prevention Council, in 2012, over 40 percent of teens had been cyber bullied. Looking at these huge numbers regarding cyber bullying frightens us. While cyber bullying is a huge problem our app would help minimize the effects.
