We're raising money for the
UCLA EWB Nicaragua Project
fundraiser led by
Los Angeles, CA
We are UCLA's Engineers Without Borders Nicaragua Project. We are currently in the 2nd phase of our S.E.D (Sanitation, Education, and Development) Project in the community of San Sebastian, Nicaragua and designing a sustainable schoolhouse for the 93 children who live in the San Sebastian area.
What I'm Raising Money For
This summer we are sending a team of 5 to 8 UCLA undergraduate students to San Sebastian to teach the community how to build a safe, stable, and resilient schoolhouse using techniques and materials readily available to them that they will be able to maintain. The goal is to give the community members design and construction tools that they can apply to future projects.
Why You Should Give
Knowledge is the single most empowering gift. Here, as UCLA students, we have the privilege of a great education but we also have the opportunity to share what we have learned and be a resource to those in need. Not only do we get to learn about and experience a new culture but we are also able to apply what we have learned and wrestle with new challenges all the while building toward a more sustainable and equal future.
